Question: When if at all should someone disclose that they have a diagnosed mental problem?
Ok Ducky, in an age where Mental Health issues have been at the for front of many debates and conversations. If a person is dating someone male or female, do you believe they have a moral obligation to disclose if they have a documented mental health problem in which they are taking medication for? If so, when? If not, why?
Thanks..
There are many reasons that we should disclose mental heath issues: (1) whenever we admit that we have a problem it gives us the Power to do something about it. (2) once we acknowledge the symptoms to a doctor we can begin to start treatment towards helping us to learn to cope with the mental illness under the right doctor's care. (3) getting the help we need to cope also means Hope. Hope that we can obtain a Positive solution and/or a resolve.
I encourage anyone living with a Mental Illness to have the Courage to share openly and honestly with loved ones and friends. To get help, to talk about it openly sometimes attacts people to do the same. Instead, of silently sufferning alone.
Hugs.
Ducky
